LifeSpan RW1000 Review

Although not the most comfortable nor the most advanced, the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine is a good fitness equipment that is backed with a good warranty and provides good resistance during your workout.

LifeSpan RW1000 Review – Summary Box

For training your muscles, improving your cardiovascular condition, and staying fit, the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine could be just what you need. While not as advanced as other models but with a good price-quality ratio, this rowing machine can become your best aid in burning calories and improving muscle tone. To make this device even more attractive, the price has been lowered from $699 to $499 so more of you can enjoy its great performance.

The resistance system of the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine is a 16.5 lbs flywheel with magnetic resistance designed with a patented Eddy Current Drive System that provides a smooth glide during any workout intensity. The slack-free belt retrieval ensures a quiet operating so if you want to use the rower at home at any moment of the day, you will be able to do it without a problem.
While unfolded, this rowing machine measures 90” long x 18.5” wide x 23” high and has a monorail length of 53” so it can fit inseams up to 38” for the full comfort of taller users. It’s a sturdy steel device that can hold users up to 300 lbs in weight so you won’t have to worry about it breaking down. What it did concern us was the movement during intense workout, which made us believe that this rower is more suitable for mild exercising rather than for firm handling. The seat can be easily adjusted fro 11” above the ground to 14.5” so everyone will sit comfortably during their exercises.

Professional rowers will love the water-like feel of rowing with this device that includes 5 levels or realistic smooth resistance. You can easily adjust the level using the resistance knob located right under the device’s display that shows the workout parameters. As in many other models, the display of the performance monitor shows distance, time, number of strokes, calories, and strokes-per-minute. The difference is that this display is spread into three sections each showing two parameters. What it doesn’t show is the heart rate and it doesn’t even include a feature that would allow you to connect a heart rate strap to it.
The monitor is powered by the electricity you create during rowing and although it seems like a great hack, it turned out to be less accurate than expected. It does show readings of your workout parameters but it doesn’t seem to take into account the resistance level so you can’t actually make a comparison of your rowing sessions.

For comfort, the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine includes padded handlebars so you can grab them firmly without the risk of slipping. The seat is molded to follow your buttocks’ contour but it’s not the most comfortable we have seen, although it keeps you in place during your workout. What we were most disappointed with are the foot pedals that are very shallow and tend to come undone for users with bigger feet. Although they are swivel footrests that allow you to feel comfortable, the Velcro straps are not too efficient and your feet might slip while rowing. It’s rather uncomfortable to feel your feet are coming loose and that you have to stop and strap them on. Also, the pull belt is made of fabric to make the device more silent but it also makes it less durable.
A good thing is that the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine can be folded with the simple pull of pin. If your space is limited, fold the unit and replace the pin to lock it top the folded position and you can easily store it away by rolling it on the transport wheel. The device folds to 34” x 19” x 64” so plenty of floor space will be saved.

Warranty and support

The warranty on this rowing machine is more impressive than in many other models, which speaks well of its manufacturer. Any labor on the LifeSpan RW1000 indoor rowing machine is free of charge for the first year after the purchase and customers will enjoy great support and some useful information available on the manufacturer’s official website.
